Hey, I just thought I'd let you know, in your descriptions of the etudes, check out what you wrote for op 10 no 12. The first chord isn't a C minor chord, it's G. Also, op 10 no 8 is very much a study in the left hand. Many pianists aren't able to bring out the melody in the left hand due to the demanding right hand.

Chopin is terrifyingly good.  He almost singlehandedly compels me to turn from an adolescent path of writing alt. rock music.  There is something else.  There is something much greater, and all must deal with this reality.

Dear mr. Tran. Thank you for setting up this website. You had Angela Lear on your website with a notification of her CD's. Currently she is busy with a re-issue of the cd's produced some years ago and making plans for recording all other solo piano pieces of Chopin to have it finished by 2010 (200th birthday) The interpretation of Angela Lear is fantastic and refreshing. Although she doesn't really like the expression "the original Chopin" it covers everything. check www.angelalear.co.uk for further info in the near future. Thanks for all the good work you do with this website.

This is without a doubt the best Chopin site I've ever come across. The site is great for learning all about chopin, and you have quiz games and contests, which is fantastic. Not only do you have a complete biography, you have links to fantastic other sites and list what I assume are the greatest piano players of our time.  And then there's the music. you guys focus more on pieces being played on real pianos, not just crappy MIDI files, and you have them ALL to hear FOR FREE!!! I will definatly be giving this site a link in my Myspace profile. Look there and you'll see I have a vast interest in music that you, well, probably wouldn't like too much. But, I have an appreciation for the roots of music and always have. DO NOT LOSE THIS SITE!! I never want to see a "page cannot be displayed" coming from here!! :)  I promise to learn a lot from Our Chopin.com; That's what it's here for.  -Brian-

Favorite works: I venture to say that, at this point in my life, Chopin's Scherzo No. 2 is my favourite piece. But if not, I really feel as if I cheat every other beautiful work by choosing among them, so I will abstain.

Favorite composers: Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Brahms, Schubert, Schumann, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Mozkowski, Mozart, and recently discovered Alkan. Ah! And Beethoven. How could I ever deign to exclude him...

Favorite interpreters: Horowitz, Kissin, Volodos, Lang Lang, Rubinstein, Li Yundi, Valentina Lisitsa, James Levine

Comments:

This is a wonderful archive of information. I came across it at random, but I was very pleased to see the devotion  to such a remarkable composer as Chopin. Perhaps it is my own personal ethnic pride in Polish creativity, but that is neither here nor there. Keep up the good work!

My great great grandfather was Chopin's close friend and associate Julian (Jules) Fontana. Polonaises 1 and 2 opus 40 were dedicated to him. Also Fontana was authorized by the Chopin family to publish many of Chopin's unpublished manuscripts posthumously.  I am trying to gather information about Fontana and copies of his own music. Any help I can get would be appreciated.  I hope to have a Fontana website soon.
